Commonly Asked Questions page
Here's a page that will hopefully make your imagination dribble. The idea is simple, you either pose a question of any nature (serious or stupid) and the good visitors of this site will attempt to answer it for you. Or if you know everything and so don't have a question to ask, why not try and come up with an answer for one of the questions posed.
So simple a fish could do it

Peachie asks...
In the Royal Navy, the footwear they use is called "Steaming Bats", why? Where dose the term "Steaming Bats" come from. What is the "dit" behind it?

Biffa asks...
Back in December last year I was going to propose to an RAF bird and asked what would the result be as I\'m Army. Thanks for the replies. However, I\'m now happy with an Argyll\'s daughter... the only problem is that her father is a big time Rupert. Any clues?

I am trying to find out about either a William Currane, John cheswick or John Hanley who were (may have been!) in No.1 Independant Troop, Air Formation Signals in 1951. I have discovered boxes of stuff in a loft and have bits of information that make me want to know more about these people

Stan asks...
Anyone know what the initials ISFS mean when attached to the NAAFI abreviation. Much Thanks

I\'m planning to propose to my RAF girl at Christmas. I\'m Army... is this wrong? Will our kids always have the stigma of Mum having been in the RAF?

Jenny Penny asks...
Well, my question must either appear irrelevent, unimportant or just isn\'t quirky, scatalogical, or sexually deviant enough to interest anyone.    Can I get my membership fee back? Hello? Anyone?    How many replies would I get to a sexually oriented question? I have many. I could pull a fun one out of my Ms. Santa hat if that would provoke a response on this site, which so far has remained boringly, stoically, stubbornly and stolidly silent.    Is anyone out there????????????    Jenny Penny

Okay here goes. I met and got enaged to a fellow from Reme Mobile, based in Middle Wallop, Hampshire in 1984. I\'m Canadian, and we met while he was on exercise on a Cdn. base. He was a mechanic, I believe, and worked on Gazelle helicopters. I visited and even lived on the Reme base for a while, in condemned married quarters (111 Horsa House), which they were allowed to fix up and live in at the time. I fell in love with his roomate...I know this makes me sound like a cow, but there was a lot to this story. The three of us were at one time good friends. I cared and still do care very much for the both of them. Romance long dead, this was a lifetime ago, but for nostalgic reasons I would like to know how they are, what they are up to etc. I have family pictures to return to one of these gentlemen. Their names were Jamie MacAllistair and Joseph (J.J.M) Hallam. I\'m a stupid civilian and apologize for not remember their rank at the time (it was 20 years ago!). If anyone knows of them, I would appreciate a method of contacting them or even general information on how to contact ex-members of Reme Mobile, or possibly they are still serving. I do not know. My intentions are not to be in any way a nuisance, by the way. Thanks in advance to anyone who can help me with this.

Hi, my Father (Jack Gordon Malpas) was in the RAF late 40\'s- ish to early 60\'s I know he was out in Egypt during the 50\'s/60\'s and when he left never received any forces medals as he didn\'t hand in part of his kit!! He still attends local rememberence days etc and was a memeber of the RAF club in Preston in the 70\'s he is now in his early 80\'s (living on the Black Isle near Inverness)and I would like to find out if he was entitled to and if I can obtain any medals that he may be entitled to?? Can anyone help. Also anyone who may remember the name, I know he sepent time on the boats towing the targets for the aircraft, I think he spent some time working on possible Spitfires/Hurricanes, he was originally from near Edinburgh/Dunfermline and I think he was a Corporal also something to do with wireless/communications, he definitely spent time at Warton near Blackpool in the mid 50\'s. Sorry the info is so vague and I may have got some of it wrong, but I don\'t want to let him know about this just yet, in case nothing comes of it!!!
