MOD REQUIREMENTS BUSINESS
The task at hand is; How does a chicken cross the road?

This was sent in by Helen Bosley and we decided that it deserved its own page.
Although this is a joke, you just know that someone, somewhere, will use it to justify their job and massive pay packet.
Enjoy.

Logistic Support:

The issue of concern is how do we provide seamless integrated support to the chicken once it has crossed the road. We understand that the chicken is looking for a dedicated support package that will be permanently assigned to provide support on both sides of the road; however, in view of dwindling resources we have formed an action team to study possible contract or host roadside support of the chicken once it has crossed. A Council of Colonels will be convened prior to the next Key Logistician VTC. ATRA has been tasked to produce a Multimedia Training Support Package, capable of being taught in a distributed environment at the chicken school of excellence. This will serve to train both reserve and regular chickens to the same standard of crossing.

ATRA:

Training to familiarise the chicken with road crossing procedures will be required. Solo chickens must pass gender free testing and be monitored by a safety observer at all times. Collective and joint road crossing will not be funded till at least 2005.

HQ Directorate Special Forces:

The chicken must cross at a 90 degree angle to avoid prolonged exposure to a line of communication. To achieve maximum surprise, the chicken should perform this manoeuvre at night using night vision goggles (NVGs) preferably near a road bend in a valley. The chicken is to sign a no disclosure certificate stating it will not publish any material relating to road crossing tactics.

Manning and Career Management Division:

Due to the needs of the army, the chicken will be involuntarily re assigned to the other side of the road. This will be a 2 year, un accompanied tour and the chicken will be offered a good deal posting afterwards. Every chicken will be required to do one road crossing during its career, and this will not affect its opportunities for future promotion.

Defence Intelligence Security Service:

Despite what you see on CNN and Sky TV, I can neither confirm nor deny any fowl performing acts in transit. Any Questions - see media operations.

Defence Evaluation and Research Agency:

This event will need confirmation; we need to repeat it using varied chicken breeds, road types, and weather conditions to confirm whether it can actually happen within the parameters specified for chickens and the remote possibility that they might cross throughways designated by some as “roads”.

Defence School of Transport:

The chicken should log this as a GCC sortie only if road crossing qualified. The crossing will update the chicken’s 60 day road crossing currency only if performed on a Monday or Thursday or during a full moon. Instructor chickens may update currency any time they observe another chicken cross the road.

Formation HQ:

The purpose is not important. What is important is that the chicken remains OPCOM and does not chop to the theatre on the other side of the road. Without chopping the chicken will be able to achieve a seamless road crossing with near real time in transit visibility.

Movement Control:

The requested road crossing start time and estimated duration of the crossing will be required. The crossing should ideally take place between 2200 and 0600 hrs on a week day or during the rush hour. Mandatory delays will be issued before, during and after the move. A compulsory rest will be required at the mid way point of the crossing.

RMP:

The chicken should be instructed to hold short of the road. Any un cleared incursion incident should be reported in a Hazardous Chicken Road Crossing report (HCRCR). Please re emphasise that chickens are required to read back all hold short instructions.

Department of the Adjutant General:

Recent changes in technology, coupled with today’s multi polar, strategic environment have created new challenges in the chickens ability to cross the road. The chicken will be faced with significant challenges to create and develop core competencies required for this new environment. A Chicken Personal Development Record (CPDR), in a partnering relationship with the client, will help the chicken by rethinking its physical distribution strategy and implementing the processes. Using the Poultry Integration Model (PIM) CPDR will help the chicken use its skills, methodologies, knowledge capital and experiences to align the chicken’s work processes and technology in support of its overall strategy within a Programme Management frame work. A CPDR working group will convene with a diverse cross spectrum of road analysts and retired chickens along with Oxbridge consultants with deep skills in the transportation industry to engage in a two day itinerary of meetings in order to leverage their personal knowledge and capital, both tacit and explicit, and to enable them to synergise with each other in order to achieve the implicit goals of delivering and successfully architecting and implementing an enterprise wide value frame work across the continuum of poultry cross median processes. The meeting will be held in a park like setting enabling and creating an impactful environment which will be strategically based, mission focussed and built upon a consistent, clear and unified mission need statement that is aligned with the chicken’s mission, vision and core values. This will be conducive towards the creation of a total business integration solution. The Chickens Systems Programme Office will help the chicken change to continue meeting the mission.
