On this day in 1876
The very first comprehensive English dictionary was scrapped when the main author, a Mr. Samuel Crowsbottom, couldn't think of a description for an aardvark.

Snow boarding was banned. Mainly because it hadn't been invented and it was decreed by the powers that be that taking part in activities that weren't yet invented was ludicrous.

A careless word between two beetles was overheard by a crowd of ants returning home from a leaf cutting exercise.
This indiscretion sparked a war between the ants and the beetles that still rages to this very day.

People gathered in the streets to see the new Lord Mayor of Huddersfield. Daisy, a two tonne heiffer, had become Lord Mayor after an administrative cock up whereby the village show 'best breeder' competition entries, and the mayoral application slips, had been mixed up.

People started ironing their clothes.
